Here is a look at the day to day line-up at the FADER/Levi’s Pop Shop in Austin, TX for SXSW, where I’ve been seeing some posts sent in from.
This is where I used to work so I’m kinda jealous since I love the Kills, would love to see Birdmonster (who recently signed to the FADER Label) then another FADER Label artist in Saul Williams, then the Tribute to Lou Reed featuring Dr. Dog, Mark Kozelek, Yo La Tengo, My Morning Jacket, Moby and Thurston Moore from Sonic Youth, followed by N.E.R.D., then The Lemonheads, The Stills, and Duffy, Santogold and 2 Live Crew…

Make Your Art Work for You was a lively core conversation session with about 40 attendees. Artists came out of the tech woodwork to attend. The conversation pooled the group’s experiences with creating art and distributing artworks including visual art, poetry, books, music and film. These various arts have rich social networks within each artform but rarely talk across disciplines unless directly collaborating, such as a book illustrator with a writer. This conversation illustrated the rich promise for social networking around the creative process as well as around the business of distributing art. I hope there will be more on this theme next year! See you then fellow artists in tech.

Before heading to the airport for my flight back to New Jersey, I wanted to take a minute to first thank Hugh Forrest and his team for being so welcoming and helping me go through the process of setting up my rookie panel Just Over 50 and Not Dead Yet.
I also want to thank my fellow panelists for taking the time in their busy schedule to be there and also their wisdom.
We were wise it seems to keep half of our session devoted to Q & A as the Mark Zuckerberg incident proved.
We do not come to SXSW Interactive to listen to ourselves talking.
We are there to interact with others, learn, be challenged.
I will keep the Just Over 50 companion blog up and open to those of you who want to continue the conversation.
Have a great day
