looking to build a web 2.0, PHP, open source, wordpress, media rich, long tail, social media, user-generated content, widget friendly, tricked out, apple-like design, mac based, never been done before…BLOG

okay, good.  i got your attention. and forgive my verbosity here, but i want to be crystal clear about what i’m looking for. we are a small but established photography studio in austin, TX, and we are going thru a major viral rebranding. top to bottom. inside out. which, front and center, will be our web 2.0 wordpress blog. and accompanying family of smaller micro sites or micro blogs (more later). the scope of the project includes extensive customization of pages, plug-ins and widgets, wordpress set up and configuration, original design (apple-like), help with launch and promotion, coding, SEO and the like.we are trying to build a blog/platform that will be praised, copied, written about, awarded and set the pace for all commercial photography blogs to come (ambious, yes..but i know it can happen!). i do have some money to produce the project, but probably nowhere near the amount to cover the creative and labor that will most likely go into it. which is exactly why i’m looking for a small team to invest as much in the project as we most likely will do. a small firm that has interdisciplinary experience in interactive, marketing, promotions, consulting. a PHP developer, with wordpress experience and who works on a mac. plus a deep knowledge of all of the tricks and techniques of the trade - i.e. flash, flex, java script, XML, XSLT, mySQ1, HTML, etc. this blog will start with a centralized site.  then interlink out to 5-6 smaller micro sites, that each ‘talk’ to different audiences (one size does not fit all here!). again, i need a team that is motivated way outside the budget constraints. and wants to be a part of one of the most cutting edge, talked about, web 2.0 blogs in the business today. we have to be setting the pace here, rather than keeping the pace.  if you think you’re qualified and would like to receive an RFP from us (we’ll only be sending out 6 RFPs), then please email me directly at jack@jackhollingsworth.com.  i’ll respond to all qualified applicants. should you be one of the 6 that receive our RFP, we will be sending it to you in march. then following up with a next step brainstorming meeting in april. after which we will be making a final decision in may. and hope to complete within a 60 day timeframe (soft launch scheduled for summer 08).most of this is admittedly new territory for our company, so we need a savvy developer who is self-motivated and a team player. who can work against deadlines and help us, all along the way, arrive at a product that we’re both super proud of and that generates results. BTW, i’m only looking for interactives based in austin (no out of towners please) so that we can carry on a personal, face to face relationship - right in our own backyard. our RFP will be approximately 20+ pages in length. and spell out, in detail, everything we want and think we need (part of your job may be to rein us in). besides having strong technical and development skills, we prioritize great design (think apple website).  clean. classic. zen-like. small (but readable) type. lots of white space. breathing room. timeless navigation. user-friendly. and very, very media-rich.if you’ve made it this far in the post and are still interested, i’d like to see a handful of similar blogs/sites that you’ve done. and a one-pager on why you want to take on this project with us. once you get to know us, you’ll find out that there is more than meets the eye. and there is, most likely, all kinds of additional opportunity for doing collaborative projects together. but first, the blog. and if you don’t know wordpress or work on a mac…no need to respond. these are must-haves! thanks, in advance.
