Here is a look at the day to day line-up at the FADER/Levi’s Pop Shop in Austin, TX for SXSW, where I’ve been seeing some posts sent in from.
This is where I used to work so I’m kinda jealous since I love the Kills, would love to see Birdmonster (who recently signed to the FADER Label) then another FADER Label artist in Saul Williams, then the Tribute to Lou Reed featuring Dr. Dog, Mark Kozelek, Yo La Tengo, My Morning Jacket, Moby and Thurston Moore from Sonic Youth, followed by N.E.R.D., then The Lemonheads, The Stills, and Duffy, Santogold and 2 Live Crew…

As a new mama attending SXSW, and new to Austin, I got together with a local mama and we created a Google Map with breastfeeding and family friendly locations and resources all around Austin. It is a new site, so we would love for you to contribute to the map or send us your comments.

How would you like keep track of ANY piece of social media that mentions SXSW?
As my gift to attendees, I’m providing a Trackur.com RSS feed for the search term “SXSW.”
Here’s the RSS feed.
Trackur.com is designed to help individuals and companies monitor their reputation on blogs, news, images, videos and even Twitter. But, it can also be used to track industry news and trends–so we thought we’d help everyone track the buzz surrounding SXSW.
I hope you enjoy it, but be warned–as we get closer to Friday, it could be like drinking water from a fire hose.

I have been perusing through the SXSWi website and am really disappointed. If you view the panel schedules, it does not show when the panel ends or who the panelist is unless you click on the detail link. Even worse, if you try and print it, you will find there is no print stylesheet. You will get two pages printed out where one is almost completely blank. So I thought I would try using the panels by category list. There is a nice long list again. This time though it doesn’t even tell you the start time, much less the panelist or the end time. So again, you have to click on the link to go to the panel detail page. Wait, there is no link. Hopefully there is a better way to decide what panels you want to visit and I just haven’t found it.
Sorry for the rant, but this has happened in past years and I have emailed in my comments but the site hasn’t improved much. I just don’t understand how a site for an event that attracts the world’s best web developers can be so incomplete. Someone please tell me that I am missing something.

Utterz is going to Austin and we want you to get involved!
The utterz army will be reporting all the latest from SXSW and there are a bunch of ways you can show off your SXSW experience.
If you’re going to be at SXSW, send me a note at sim@utterz.com so we get to see you, give you some treats and maybe even get you a hug from pappa-rcow!
Grab a badge right here to let everyone know you’re an Utterz SXSW reporter. If you grab a badge and put it on your site, be sure to let us know by sending an e-mail to sim@utterz.com. We’ll get you featured on the SXSW page. Here are the badges: http://www.utterz.com/…rters.html
Embed a SXSW widget on your page and stream all the action from the festival. All utterz tagged SXSW will play in this widget. It’s a great way to keep updated on SXSW even if you can’t make it. Grab the widget here: http://www.utterz.com/…idget.html
Check out the Utterz SXSW blog (http://www.sxsw08.blogspot.com/) and the homepage (http://www.utterz.com/sxsw) and pass them around to friends. All the reporting from SXSW will get automatically posted to this blog so we all have a place to check out the latest action. You don’t have to do a thing to get your utterz on this blog. Just report your SXSW experience!
Come join us at the SXSW Interactive Festival. Swing by the Utterz booth #608 and see a demo, give us some feedback or sign-up and report your SXSW experience.
We’ll also be having a panel, well more of an exercise, on mobile blogging on Sunday at 3:30PM. Come have fun with Chris Brogan, Jeremiah Owyang, Chris Heuer and Leora Zellman as we mobile blog SXSW and win "prizes of unspeakable value."
Can’t wait to get to Austin and have some fun. Watch out for all the reporting from SXSW.

Getting tipsy just thinking about all the parties you’ll be attending? Why not take in the fresh air and enjoy some running while in Austin?
No open bar, no sponsors, and no wifi for a change…
Join the SXSW Runners Group on Facebook:
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=8415312365
We’ll see if we can coordinate for morning and evening folks, and hopefully find some nice places to jog. Look forward to meeting you at SXSW!

Any AIGA members attending SXSWi, March 7-11, 2008, interested in a meet & greet (or kvetch) please let me know. I’m the AIGA Web director and am looking to arrange a gathering spot during a lunch break. I hope to be joined by Tom Sychay of Thirdwave in opening the floor to a discussion of chapter sites, the eponymous Internet Kit, or any other topic we might actually know something about.
Don’t be a stranger now. AIGA is the professional association for interactive design, too!

Hello all,
I’m pleased to have heard from a bunch of people and hope we can all meet up on Sunday, March 9, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. (following the morning program) at Halcyon Coffeehouse, just about 4 or 5 blocks from the Convention Center:
Halcyon Coffeehouse
218 W. 4th Street, corner of 4th and Lavaca in the Warehouse district
(512) 472-9637
www.halcyonaustin.com
I’ll get there early enough to take up space but it would be great if we could gather promptly to leave time for lunch and still get us back to the Convention Center for the 2:00 p.m. presentations.
Should the weather be fair I’ll try to score the patio, otherwise I’ll be inside. Though the food offerings are not extensive (primarily sandwiches), excellent coffee, comfortable seating and free wifi are plentiful!
Feel free to forward this invitation to any other AIGA members, or interested persons. I’m eager to meet you all, and make a place for AIGA in the SXSWi universe.

It’s Matthew Antolick from The OaKs. Just wanted to introduce ourselves, and invite you to our SXSW 2008 Showcase, March 12 @ The Wave (408 E 6th St Austin, TX 78701).
You can listen to our new album Songs For Waiting for free through www.theoaksband.com, which releases March 4. You can also pre-order the album through this link.
We’ve had great response everywhere we’ve played, from CMJ in New York City this past October, to our own home town. We drew 170+ to our last local show here in Orlando, FL, and had a totally engaged audience. We’ve been told that we are a band that “needs to be seen live to be fully appreciated,” which makes sense, since we are probably our happiest on stage.
The OaKs’ new album is reviewed in the most recent issue of Paste Magazine (March 2008). They call Songs For Waiting a “great album” whose “success lies in that balance between lyrical hyper-literacy and a catholic music sensibility that finds as much gravitas in a clap-along as a plucked-guitar.” That was nice of them!
We recently appeared on Public Radio International’s Fair Game, with Faith Salie, where Faith interviewed Ryan regarding the back story of our first single “Masood,” and we performed live in the studio. The show was broadcast in 26 states! If you’d like to hear the archive from the February 13th broadcast, you can listen here:

Full bio, press photos and more are available via http://www.fanaticpromotion.com/current/oaks_waiting.html or http://www.sonicbids.com/theoaks
See you at SXSW, March 12 @ The Wave. We’re looking forward to it!
